The Boston University College of Fine Arts

Education at the College of Fine Arts begins on the BU campus and extends into Boston—a rich center of cultural, artistic, and intellectual activity — and reaches beyond the city to international programs as well.
Welcome to the School of Theatre at Boston University
A theatre conservatory within the embrace of a metropolitan university, our School offers programs in acting, directing, design, production, management, theatre education, and theatre arts. Our programs foster the synthesis of imagination, intellectual inquiry and technical skill by combining rigorous training with study in a traditional liberal arts curriculum. We offer unique educational experiences for students possessed of theatrical imagination and professional promise.
Welcome to the School of Visual Arts at Boston University
We are a community of artists within a great university and in a city that offers diversity and a vibrant arts culture. We take advantage of our location by connecting students with the excitement and creativity of the arts in Boston, through internships, study options, and field trips to museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts and the new Institute of Contemporary Art, galleries, theatres, libraries, and an array of other educational institutions.
Even more importantly, within the walls of Boston University are resources critical to the development of emerging artists, including libraries, performance spaces, and some of the best faculty in the world. The first-rate teaching and mentoring of our regular faculty is supplemented by a vibrant program of visiting artists, guest lecture series, and exhibitions.
Our students share a common goal of being part of a vibrant and motivated community of artists.
Welcome to the School of Music
Founded in the 1870s in one of the great artistic and cultural centers of the nation, the School can lay claim to a glorious and distinguished history. The many successful alumni and former faculty can attest to this tradition. We are proud of our past and conscious of our present. The School offers the most diverse array of academic and artistic programs and degrees, from the bachelor’s degree to research and professional doctorates. Our online professional doctorate is at the very cutting edge of graduate music education.
We extend the warmest welcome to all visitors, prospective students, and colleagues of the School. You will find our community to be vibrant, supportive, and progressive. The School’s mission is unchanged since the 1870s—through educating the very finest and most humane musicians, we seek to contribute to the artistic life of the society in which we live.
