New England Hardwood Supply

Twenty years of buying lumber has taught us that different species of trees grow better in different areas of the country. To maintain the highest quality of lumber, we buy hardwood from sawmills in the areas where the trees grow best. We buy only the highest grade of lumber that the sawmills put up - the lumber is kiln-dried to a moisture content of 6% to 8%, and no flooring leaves our premises until the moisture content is tested. |

New England Hardwood Supply Hardwood Flooring Cherry Our cherry comes form the Allegheny Mountains in Western Pennsylvania, the are known for growing the nicest cherry in the world. Flooring made from this lumber has little gum and is 100% red on the face of the boards (no sapwood). Red Oak Our red oak comes from New England. New England red oak is in demand worldwide because of its bright color, consistent grain, and lack of dark mineral streaks. Maple Our maple comes from Central Vermont. Known as hard, rock, or sugar maple, wood from this area has a light, consistent color and a lack of dark mineral streaks . This flooring is 100% white on face of the boards (all sapwood). Ash Our ash comes from the White and Green Mountains of New England. In most ash flooring, lighter sapwood is mixed with darker heartwood. Our ash flooring runs mainly to the lighter color because the sawmill selects the lumber for color. White Oak Our white oak is New England stock, which has a richer, darker, more consistent color than its Southern or Appalachian cousins. The face of the flooring is 100% heartwood with no sapwood. Top-notch Milling We sell lumber rough, planed; planed and edged; or dimensioned on all sides. Dimension lists for molding and trim are welcome. All flooring is hand faced on 16" long-bed jointers, planed to 3/4", straight-edged on a high-speed edging machine, and ripped to width. Finally, it is passed through our custom-designed, double-spindle flooring machine, which mills the tongue, groove, and stress reliefs in one pass. This series of processes allows us to produce long, flat, straight flooring with the highest milling tolerances and an average length of 7 to 8 feet. A Consistent Look We encourage package buying, because we buy each hardwood species from one sawmill. We can mill flooring, stair treads, trim molding, and cabinet stock out of the same lumber for a consistent look throughout your job. Please call for pricing on lumber, flooring, and the other products we offer.
