Dance It Up! Dance Center, was opened in June 1996 under the direction of Stephanie Whiterell and Rosemary "Buffy Flynn" Haseltine. The Center currently features three beautiful, fully equipped dance studios with ample waiting and observation areas. Dance It Up! offers a broad range of movement programs for ages 2½ - to adult.
About the Directors
Stephanie M. Whiterell
B.S. Dance and Physical Education, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. Former owner/director of SMW Dance Studio in North Grafton from 1977-1987. Stephanie has developed, implemented and taught pre-school and fundamental programs in Boston area studios for over five years. Her DANCE 'N PLAY© classes have appeared on WCVB-Channel 5 Lifetime Television, with Dr. Penelope Leach, child psychologist, displaying and analyzing non-competitive activities for young children. She is ACE (American Council on Exercise) Aerobic certified and holds a Massachusetts Teacher's Certificate in Health and Physical Education, K-6. Stephanie is also trained in Stott Pilates.
Rosemary "Buffy" Haseltine
B.F.A. in Dance, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and M. ED., Early Childhood and
Elementary Education, New York University. She was a former student of SMW Dance Studio (1977-1987). Buffy has trained and performed in New York City with several concert dance companies and noted choreographers. She helped develop and taught "Project Dreamcatcher" as interdisciplinary arts program for inner city youths. Buffy holds a Massachusetts and New York Teacher's Certificate for pre-school-6. She taught kindergarten and pre-school in New York City and Worcester. In the past, Buffy has taught in the Boston area and is trained in Stott Pilates.
