What do we emphasize in our programs?
Mathematics as a Language, Mathematical Reasoning and Proof, which includes deep understanding of the differences between Theorems and Definitions, ability to draw Logical Conclusions, to make and test Mathematical Conjectures.
When a student realizes that he actually deals with the same phenomena when he looks at the things from the various angles, the fear of Math is replaced by the pleasure that comes with deep understanding. “To master anything requires effort. But it does not require unpleasant effort, drudgery. The main task of any teacher is to make a subject interesting” (Walter Sawyer).

TO the advanced areas of elementary mathematics, in order for them to develop analytical skills and all important working habits they need in college
TO the strong chess program developed by Grand Masters Boris Gulko and Alexander Ivanov.
We host chess tournaments, book readings, art shows, and music concerts, throughout the year, to make our school a place of learning and community.
Why Math has a unique role?
The most obvious aspect of importance of Math education is an enormous range of applications in every direction of our culture.
The cognitive value of learning Math is no less important.
Math is by all means a queen of sciences, because it is a universal language of all sciences.
By studying Math you develop analytical skills, clarity and independent thinking, discipline, “process learning”, taste to the process itself rather than only to results.
Math teaches students to concentrate, helps them to develop work habits.
Poincare said: “Mathematics is the art of giving the same name to different things”
The language of math teaches us to look at the things from the various angles, to become aware of the way they are thinking to listen to ourselves.
In fact, there are very few wisdoms and experiences we can give our children more valuable and rewarding than math, in terms of building confidence in their abilities, self esteem and a taste for intellectual activity.

The way we approach to teaching
We teach and encourage a view that our Universe is not a collection of isolated objects and phenomena, but a system, where new pieces of information fit into the big picture, in a context that we are already aware of.
We know how to approach each child individually. We create individual relationships with each student, treating him/her as a unique individual, with the respect each one deserves.
We pay special attention to communications, reasoning skills, concepts, and the understanding of definitions.

Significant efforts dedicated to teaching the student to communicate, express mathematical ideas coherently. We teach the student to listen to herself, to become aware of the way she is thinking. We emphasize the aspect of Math being a language, and for the student to understand the concept really implies ability to express it (using verbal and symbolic ways).
