Learning Martial Arts is a great way for the whole family to keep fit. Learning self-discipline while learning to defend yourself. We teach children as young as 4 years old to Adults of all ages and skill level. It's great fun for the whole family!

O Sensei Alberto Ortiz is a 6th degree black belt in Open Shotokan Karate and brings more than 15 years of experience. O Sensei Alberto is a former national fighting and forms champion and is well known for his articulate fighting skills and respected through out the Martial Arts community. O Sensei Alberto started his dojo more than 8 years ago in the city of Somerville. As owner/chief instructor O Sensei prides himself on his self determination and self discipline to succeed, which he instills that passion on his instructors and students today.
Our certified black belt instructors know the importance of teaching respect and discipline to children. We help to develop more focus and a "Yes I Can" attitude. We strive in helping children develop their character as well as becoming physically fit through great structured work outs. This development of a "YES I CAN" positive attitude builds those important stepping stones a child needs to help overcome most obstacles they'll face through out life.
Adults learn all aspects of the Martial Arts through our structured classes, training with all levels, from white belts to black belts. Learning from each other as well as the instructors. Teaching the 4 key components (Basics, Katas (forms), Self Defense and Fighting) our adult students learn through patience and hard work becoming great Martial Artists. Gaining mental discipline and physical fitness.

The Red Tiger Dojo Karate teaches Open Shotokan Karate. Shotokan Karate of today is recognized as a dynamic style with large linear movements and low powerful stances. It blends long flowing movements with high sweeping kicks and strikes that at first glance gives the impression that as a style it works at optimum front medium to longer range fighting distances. Its origins lay in Okinawa and as such shares many of the same attributes as other Okinawan Styles.
