Lyceum Bar & Grill
George Harrington established the Lyceum Bar & Grill in Salem, Massachusetts in 1989 in a historic former lecture hall made famous by the likes of Thoreau, Hawthorne, Emerson, and Alexander Graham Bell.
Long before Bell made his first public phone call, in 1877, from the Lyceum, Bridget Bishop tended her apple orchard here, next door to her house, from where, in 1692, as an accused witch, she was dragged to jail and hanged at Gallows Hill.

Functions Upstairs at the Lyceum
Let us host your special event at the Lyceum.
From intimate winter rehearsal dinners for 25 people near a warming fire to magical summer weddings for 100 guests, Kristen Hansen, our function coordinator, will guide you through the process of planning and hosting your special event.
Whether reviewing the function menus or selecting a florist or band, Kristen can help you attend to all the details. Our friendly and experienced staff will provide the atmosphere and food to complement any occasion.
Up a flight of stairs (sorry we are not handicapped accessible) you will find our two function rooms with a light and sophisticated ambiance. Both rooms feature large windows, exposed brick walls, and a historic flavor. The first room is equipped with a small, fully stocked bar and a lovely working fireplace with wide plank floors and exposed beams, and the second is a bit more formal with carpeting and a small dance floor.
Function Guidelines
-Daytime functions minimum of 40 people
-Evening functions minimum of 50 people Saturday night and holidays
-Weeknight functions minimum 25 people
-Minimums month of December, please inquire with Kristen
-Seated events max 100 people, cocktail & hors d'oeuvres max 150
